The
Chicago Section of SME, comprised of members residing in or doing business
in Northern Illinois and Indiana, facilitates the exchange of information
and increases local participation among SME members. Membership is comprised of individuals with a desire to
advance public interest in the engineering, scientific, economic,
education and public relations aspects of the mining industry.
Local membership and participation in local events provides an
opportunity to network with peers and hear valuable presentations through
section activities. Currently,
membership consists of owners, operators, engineers, consultants,
suppliers, vendors, teachers, and students.

SME membership is not mandatory or required to
become a Section member. Membership runs from July 1, 2001 to June
30, 2002.
